Painting in Distemper
Materials & Techniques
Class Description
The technique of distemper has been used in Tibetan Buddhist painting since the 13th-century but it is rarely taught anywhere outside of Tibet. Using rabbitskin as a binder with pigment, distemper is a water-soluble paint that dries quickly in a matte finish. In this class you'll learn about its history and get a hands-on introduction to its unique usage of materials.
